Up~Cycled

Okay so I've pinned about a thousand different ways to refinish old furniture from Pinterest. And since I recently found an old wooden filing cabinet, for 9 bucks, at our local Goodwill I thought I'd give it a try. So the first thing I did was to take off all the hardware and filled in all the holes with a wood filler. Then I lightly sanded and painted two coats of semi-matte paint. Then, I lightly sanded again, mostly in the corners and where there were grooves. So I liked how it was looking at this point and almost cut out the staining part. But since, I'd never know what it would look like if I didn't, I went ahead with the final step. I kind of just chose a stain color purely by the "e nee me nee my nee moe" method. lol The name of the stain color was called, "Chocolate Therapy." Hmmm, so fitting. Anywho, I tore up an old tee shirt and applied the stain to the cabinet, little sections at a time. Then I went over with a wet cloth and wiped away where I thought it looked too dirty. (If that makes any sense.) Okay enough typing....Here are the before and after shots of my up~cycled piece.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Sad that it's almost over. Hugs from Texas~ Photobucket
